West Ham United were ‘delighted’ to unveil the new 2024/25 Umbro home kit earlier in July, inspired by the club’s 1960s golden era.
Last season was anything but golden for the Hammers, as they had to settle for a dismal ninth-place finish in the Premier League.
Another disappointing domestic campaign resulted in David Moyes’ exit, with the London giants set to embark on a new chapter under Julen Lopetegui.
The club’s decision to pay tribute to the likes of Bobby Moore, Martin Peters, Geoff Hurst and others isn’t random by any stretch of the imagination.
Next season will be the 60th anniversary of West Ham’s iconic European Cup Winners’ Cup triumph, and the Hammers want to pay homage to their legendary team in the 60s.
The home kit unsurprisingly features West Ham’s traditional Claret and Blue colours, with a claret body and blue sleeves.
Like in the 60s, it features a round neck and claret accents on the sleeve cuffs, with a commemorative Umbro diamond logo displayed on the right to celebrate the British sportswear company’s 100th anniversary.
West Ham proudly unveiled the new home jersey with the slogan ‘Wear the Greatness,’ highlighting their commitment to excellence and honouring the club’s storied history.
As for the away shirt, the Hammers insist the kit paid tribute to its East End origins. It’s predominantly black with burgundy details, featuring a subtle print of the St. Mary-le-bow church.
In addition to the new West Ham jersey, you can find all 24/25 Premier League kits here, especially the fans eager to have a comprehensive look at the latest designs across the league.
Let’s see if this retro design could help Lopetegui turn the Irons’ fortunes around on his Premier League return following a bleak short-term stint at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Spaniard will make his touchline debut on August 17 when West Ham meet Aston Villa in a curtain-raising 2024/25 fixture at the London Stadium.
