West Ham striker Niclas Fullkrug has been spotted doing light training in Dubai as he continues to regain full fitness.
The club shared an image on their X account of the 31-year-old in a Hammers kit doing light training.
They said Fullkrug was also involved in a local kickabout session.
The Germany international joined West Ham in the summer for a reported fee of £27 million.
However, the move hasn’t worked out as he is rarely available for selection due to consistent fitness issues. Even former technical director Tim Steidten has admitted that buying Fullkrug was a mistake.
The centre-forward has made only 11 appearances across all competitions this campaign, with two goals to his name.
It is very positive news that Fullkrug has now returned to light training, which means he could make full recovery soon.
However, it could be difficult for him to get into the team as West Ham have also brought in Evan Ferguson on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion.
Ferguson has just turned 20, but he has already played in 80 matches for the Seagulls, scoring 17 goals in the process.
However, the Irish footballer wasn’t getting regular game time under Fabian Hurzeler this term, as he was limited to just 15 appearances across all competitions.
Therefore, he was open to joining the East London outfit in search of more first-team opportunities.
West Ham spent over £120 million to bring in nine new recruits in the summer. But despite the heavy investment, the Irons endured a disappointing start to the season under Julen Lopetegui.
The club’s hierarchy finally pulled the trigger on the Spaniard’s tenure last month with the team in 14th position.
Potter has been installed in his place, and the Hammers have already seen some improvement under the English boss.
Results haven’t been very good, but the performances have been encouraging.
Potter’s men made an impressive start against Chelsea on Monday, but were hugely unlucky to lose 2-1 to the Blues after an own-goal from Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
