David Moyes set to sign new contract at West Ham

David Moyes is reportedly close to signing a new deal at West Ham United.

The 60-year-old returned to the East London outfit for his second managerial stint in December 2019 and guided them to Premier League safety.

The Hammers secured sixth and seventh placed finishes in the following two seasons under the Scottish boss, who also ended their trophy drought with Europa Conference League success in 2023.

But despite Moyes’ achievements, many Irons’ fans are not satisfied with his brand of football and want the club to not extend his stay.

However, The Sun reporter Alan Nixon claims the 60-year-old is set to pen a new contract at the London Stadium.

Moyes has appointed his son David to the scouting department, which hints that he plans to stay on as manager beyond the 2023-24 season.

The Scottish boss looked under pressure after the Hammers’ three successive defeats to Manchester United, Arsenal and Nottingham Forest in February.

But things have improved since as the Londoners defeated Brentford before registering an excellent comeback win against Everton last weekend.

However, they slumped to a disappointing 1-0 loss to Freiburg on Thursday in the first leg of their Europa League Round of 16 tie.

West Ham blog say Moyes’ men will now need a big performance next week to overturn the deficit and make it to the quarter-finals of the European competition.
